What is Essential Driver Training (EDT)
The Essential Driver Training (EDT) programme is a structured course designed for learner drivers, consisting of 12 driving lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). If you qualify for reduced EDT, the programme includes six sessions.
Who is required to complete the 12 EDT lessons?
By law, any driver who was issued a learner permit on or after April 4th, 2011, must complete the mandatory 12 EDT driving lessons. As you progress through each module, we will document your progress in your RSA EDT driving lesson logbook.
We deliver the course in six two hour sessions.
What should I bring to my driving lessons?
Always bring your learner permit to each driving lesson. After your first EDT lesson, you’ll receive an EDT logbook — be sure to bring this to every lesson also.
Ideally you should also have a Sponsor — an qualified driver, often a family member — who will supervise your driving practice outside of lessons and help track your progress in your logbook.

Do you need to evaluate your driving skills and readiness for a driving test or further training?
You can book single lessons for evaluation purposes or targeted practice on specific driving skills. I can give you individualised instruction tailored to your current driving abilities and goals.

Car rental includes a driving lesson of at least one hour just before your test, which many find essential for calming nerves and receiving last-minute tips and advice.
The rental includes use of the car, insurance coverage for the test, a test debrief to explain your results, and, if needed, a lift back to the meeting point afterward.
